Organizational Development, Learning, and Employee Experience Executive

I started in a classroom.

I spent my first decade teaching, and it permanently shaped how I read a room. In a classroom you learn quickly that nobody performs because you told them to. They perform because something in the environment made it possible, and your entire job is building that environment on purpose.

Enterprise talent development turned out to be the same job with a larger budget and worse acoustics.

Over twenty years I have built learning and employee experience functions from nothing, led teams across multiple sites through a mix of formal authority and plain influence, run internship programs for young adults by the hundred, and founded and directed the employee experience, organizational development, and learning function across five business lines of a regulated, multi state health system.

I hold an MBA from the University of the People and a BBA from Baylor University. I am based in the Washington DC and Baltimore metro area.

I also trained in improv, which sounds like a fun fact and is actually load bearing. Improv taught me that presence under pressure is not a personality trait. It is a set of repeatable moves. That single idea is the foundation of everything I have built since, including the executive communication tool I designed and the diagnostic I teach to frontline managers.

Outside the work: family first, always. Travel when I can get it. And an ongoing habit of building things I was told to wait for.

"Most people are carrying more capacity than their circumstances currently allow them to use."

Finding that gap and closing it is the only thing I have ever really done for a living. Everything else has been logistics.
